Week 8: 3/16-3/20

Monday 3.16.20

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing okay today.  I am thinking of you and I will miss seeing your smiling faces this Monday afternoon.  For today's learning experience, and if you are feeling up for it, here is the plan:

1.  Read for 15 minutes.  Read a book of your choice, an article of interest, or one of the Interpreter of Maladies stories that you didn't quite finish or want to review.   Let me know if you don't have anything to read and I can send you a link of some sort.

2. In World News.  Please read this story about how some Italians created a positive moment in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak.  Be sure to watch the video!

3. If you didn't complete this on my home page already, please fill out this form.  It is mostly for me to see how you are doing and to see if you are accessing this website.

4.  Work on your Moth Story.  Here is the assignment.  The goal initially was for you to work on and complete a full draft (goal is that told aloud would be 5-6 minutes) and tell it to a partner today.  Obviously we are going to adjust this!  If you are able to, please share your moth story draft with me via this link or under the "Turn in Papers" tab.  Remember some of the stories we watched and listened to as you work on your story.  Some notable stories that were memorable for many of you were "The Bad Haircut" and "May 6th" and "PROM"

Please email me if you have any questions, thoughts, or just want to talk.

I am looking into setting up a Google Classroom site and / or other ways to communicate with you.  Stay tuned for now, and stay safe!

xoxo Ms. Frontier

Tuesday 3.17.20

Good morning! I hope your first day at home went as smoothly as possible.  I took a walk in the morning with my three boys and then spent some time reading your responses to my "how are you doing" question.  It was really nice to hear from many of you.  I know some of you are managing well, and others are bored, missing your friends, or nervous.  I hope you are able to connect with others on your phones and also that you are finding ways to relax and take your minds off of the constant news about coronavirus.  Here are some ideas: Listen to some relaxing music, get a few minutes of fresh air, watch a show, or even do some yoga.  Here is a yoga app that has just offered free access for K-12 students!

Here is a learning plan for today- again, if you are feeling up for it:

1.  Read for 15 minutes.  Read a book of your choice, an article of interest, or one of the Interpreter of Maladies stories that you didn't quite finish or want to review.   Let me know if you don't have anything to read and I can send you a link of some sort.

2. In World News.  Please read this story about how Nepal is making yoga mandatory for schoolchildren.  The photo at the end of the article of a very young boy concentrating on his yoga pose is worth a look!

3. Tuesday 3/17 Check in.  Complete
this form so I know how you are doing today!  Again, it is super short and it allows me to hear how you are doing.

4. Work on your Interpreter of Maladies Final Project.   HERE is the project explanation and a model.  As you know, this project was originally due on Wednesday, March 18th by 11:59p, so if you are able to keep on track with that due date, that is great!  If not, we can be in touch.

Again, please email me if you have any questions, thoughts, or just want to talk. I have enjoyed hearing from some of you in the last day!
